Dennis Boyer spent nearly thirty years in public policy development in government. He served in regulatory capacities and as a representative of stakeholders. He came to the Interactivity Foundation after a long stint with Wisconsin's largest public employees' union, where he focused on public infrastructure and program development.
An attorney by training and member of the Bar, he has worked on a variety of projects involving open government, due process, and ethics. These projects have involved him in the professional development of public managers, public administrators, and government lawyers. He has been active in a variety of conflict resolution forums and has served as an arbitrator in matters relating to employment, consumer, and business organization issues. He has also served in many government study committees on issues as diverse as solid waste, transportation development, public contracts, and socially responsible investment policy.
Boyer's policy interests reflect this wide range of experience, but focus on transparency and broad participation in governance. His first IF project was entitled Rewarding Work and focused on broad employment issues. His current IF project is in the area of regulation.
A Pennsylvania native and WVU graduate, he lives on a farm in southwest Wisconsin with his wife and two sons. He is a Vietnam veteran active in the Disabled American Veterans, ecology groups, and German American heritage organizations. He has written extensively on Midwest and Pennsylvania German culture and folklore. He and his sons hike the Appalachian, Ice Age, and North Country trails.
