Rashmi “Tikki” Magon graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University with a B.A. in sociology and in political science in December 2010. She served as a committee chair for Mesa Community College’s model united nations team for several years and received distinguished diplomat and best delegate awards at international conference. Tikki is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and recipient of the Homa and Irene Wood Foundation Scholarship and the Regent’s High Endorsement.
A first generation college graduate, Tikki is looking forward to continuing her education at ASU in the masters degree program in public administration and in becoming more actively engaged with the Foundation. She hopes to someday be able to incorporate the ideas, methods, and discussion techniques of IF into actual public policy development.
A rather eccentric individual, some of Tikki’s interests include playing any and all sports, camping, adding her own flair to conventional recipes, weight training, international travel, art museums and spoiling her dogs; Tiger, Dolce and Dixie. She currently lives in Tempe, AZ.
Major/Area of Study:
Graduated December 2010 – B.A. Sociology, B.A. Political Science
Interests/Goals/Expectations:
I’m not completely sure what my ultimate goal is after completing grad school. If I pursue a career based on my degree then I would like to go into project management for the city and maybe eventually become city manager. However, I also have an interest in teaching. If I decided to go in that direction then I would try and get my PHD (which I actually want to do either way) so I could teach at the university level.
From this experience I hope to of course learn better facilitation skills, more sophisticated discussion techniques, and professionalism. On top of those things I would like to learn how to open my mind, to really expand the lens that I see through, since that’s what drives all of my interactions with the world. I’m not referring to broadening my receptiveness to differing public policy possibilities, rather to peoples’ perspectives, to the reasoning and logic behind the different possibilities. Topics of Interest:
1. Helping Out: Humanitarian Policy for Global Security,
