Summer Institutes

In 2006 and 2009, the Interactivity Foundation sponsored Summer Institutes with selected faculty from around the country. Our objectives for these conferences were to work with interested faculty members to have them first learn our approach to facilitated, small-group discussion, and then collaborate with them in adapting key aspects of that process to student-centered classroom discussions for one or more of their college courses.

Both of these summer programs were held on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and each was an intense, highly interactive, and successful experience for both the faculty and for IF.

Click on the following text links for listings of the individual faculty members from the 2006 Summer Institute (and their sponsored college courses) and from the 2009 Summer Institute.

We are currently in the early stages of planning for a 2011 Summer Institute that will focus more on first-year, seminar classroom experiences. In the spring of 2010, we should have more information available here and on our Education blog about our thinking and planning efforts for a 2011 Summer Institute.
