Hi David, I just want to echo Deb's comment-- this was a terrific post that should be very helpful for helping other faculty get more out of their IF classes. You're very good at articulating the "nuts and bolts" details that are likely to be of best use to others. Warmest regards, Sue

Thanks David for your detailed set of tips regarding your experience using the IF process in your class. I am heartened to hear that allowing students to navigate their way (instead of you/us doing it for them) requires a different form of class organization and course design. I spent A LOT of time designing the IF course I will be teaching this semester in this direction, and your reflections make me think that time was well-spent and that I am on the right track. Thanks for this. I also appreciated your recommendation to conduct group process debriefing after each session, which I know Laura and others have also suggested. What I found most useful in your reflections was your suggestion to have each class/session build on others, and not treat them as discrete entities. This is a concern of mine, since my course meets once a week, and so I will keep this in mind. The timing of your comments could not have been better for me, and I share your pleasure in our shared blog discourse. Thanks again. Be well.
