I enjoyed reading your reflection, Dennis, thanks again to you and Jeff for making the trip to Cincinnati. Although attendance was minimal, I’ve heard a lot of positive comments from folks who were there and there seems to be great interest in IF’s summer institute and other opportunities.Your comments about the group development, sense of shared identity, and socialization of civic discussion newcomers are great observations. I saw similar comfort and shared identity develop in my students last quarter (and am seeing it in my class now even though we’ve only been doing a kind of mini-IF student-facilitated exploratory discussions).  Respectful, engaged, thoughtful discussion has the opportunity to shape people’s civic identity, I think, and the IF process seems to be a good example for that.
