CDP at American Press Institute Virtual Reunion

Eric Schmucker, Co Program Manager of the Collaborative Discussion Project (CDP) and a member of our CDP training team, will be leading a breakout session during the American Press Institute (API) virtual reunion on February 6, 2025. This session will introduce a collaboration discussion activity from the Collaborative Discussion Toolkit on how to use a basic rule of improvisational comedy to improve how we collaborate in discussion.

This event is a virtual follow-up to the API’s Local News Summit on Fostering Belonging and Collaboration. It is designed for leaders from local news organizations across the United States, including newspapers and public radio stations, representing diverse media types and organization sizes.

The reunion builds on API’s July 2024 summit in Minneapolis, which explored practices and frameworks to foster belonging and collaboration within local news organizations. The summit aimed to equip leaders with tools to cultivate healthy, resilient workplace cultures where staff feel heard and supported, and to energize collaboration across teams to better serve communities.
