DIY Discussions

We wholeheartedly encourage individuals and organizations to convene and conduct a Community Conversation or any other participatory discussion event employing elements of Exploratory Discussion, whether on their own or in partnership with others. All of our discussion materials, including our topical Discussion Guides, “how-to” Facilitation Guidebooks, and other resources are all available for download without charge for non-commercial purposes. We encourage you to contact us if you have questions about any aspect of the process–from organizing the event or recruiting participants to facilitating the discussion. We want to help, and we appreciate your interest in this work.

If you conduct a Community Conversation or some other discussion event using Exploratory Discussion methods or any of our Discussion Guides, we would love to hear about your experience. We have a short feedback form, editable in either MS Word or Google Docs, that you can download for this purpose.

In 2020, we are planning to provide additional support for DIY Discussions with a new program that will offer qualified organizers a modest stipend, which can be used as needed to help offset the costs of the event, in exchange for publicizing the discussion (through one or more media) and reporting back to us. Watch our blog for additional information about this upcoming program.
