Session 5 of Welcoming Communities – an Online Course of Exploratory Discussions

This is the 5th session of a weekly, 6-session online course of exploratory discussions on the topic of “Welcoming Communities” that the Interactivity Foundation is facilitating in partnership with the Diversity Relations Council and the Center for Lifelong Learning at Leisure World in Silver Spring, Maryland.  In this course, registered participants from Leisure World meet weekly online via Zoom.

The six class discussions for this course are participatory, interactive, and additive—they build on the ideas discussed and developed in prior sessions by the participants.  In this 5th session, participants will begin forming different ideas for the future of our welcoming communities by developing the “history of the future” for these different visions. Some of the different questions that they may consider in this session include—

• Imagine you’re in a future with your ideal of a welcoming community: what is it like?
• What policies do they have in place to make it work?
• How did they get there?
• What did they build on in our own time to get there?
